Get to Know Dan
Dan began his career by receiving a PGM degree in Orlando, FL in 2007. While working toward his degree he was an Assistant Golf Professional at Orange Lake Resort & CC where he taught under Top 100 Teacher, Rick McCord at the Golf Magazine Top 25 Golf School, The McCord Golf Academy. By January 2007, Dan was a full time teaching professional at the academy, where he taught for three years. While there he also played on several south eastern regional professional golf tours.
In 2010, while branching off on his own, he started teaching fellow tour players and local aspiring players in Baltimore, MD and started Dan Alton Golf Instruction. Dan spent four years teaching in Maryland before gaining a sponsorship to play professionally again full time on the NGA Hooters Pro Golf Tour and several other American tours in 2013/’14. After playing full time for two years, Dan retired from playing and moved to North Carolina where he held the position of Director of Instruction at the Neuse Golf Club in Clayton, NC where he spent three seasons. He formerly was the Head Teaching Professional at Wildwood Green G.C. in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is currently the Owner and Director of Golf at Metrics Indoor Golf in Raleigh, NC.
In 2024, Dan opened Metrics Indoor Golf, a club in North Raleigh where he currently runs an instructional program in efforts to grow the game of golf in the greater Raleigh area. Throughout his career in golf he has been fortunate enough to teach men, women and children from all over the world. He has taught all skill levels, from beginners to professional players who require advanced instruction. He takes absolute pleasure in helping his students improve their game, achieve their goals and lower their scores.
